Ingenious Grant

We are very pleased to announce that UKSDC has been awarded a £20,000 Ingenious grant by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The grant will allow us to expand the scope of the Competition, greatly increasing the number of regional events we run, and to engage with younger students though new Micro-Competitions.

The Micro-Competitions will be for 11-14 year olds, and run alongside the Regional Competitions. This means students who are not old enough to enter the UKSDC can still experience the thrill of the competition and gain experience in competing in a 12-hour version of the event.

Regional Heat and Micro-Competition dates and venues will be released in the coming months, and will be held between September and December 2013. The winners of Regional Heats will receive a place in the 2014 UKSDC National Final.

The Royal Academy of Engineering promotes the engineering and technological welfare of the country, providing independent advice to Government, working to secure the next generation of engineers, and providing a voice for Britain’s engineering community. Ingenious grants are given for creative approaches to engaging the public with engineering projects, and are supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
