Derbyshire Regional Heat 2015

Huge congratulations today to first-time entrants to the UK Space Design Competition, Heanor Gate Science College and Lady Manners School, who won the Derbyshire Regional Heat on Saturday.  Students from the two schools had not met before the competition day as the schools were paired when they asked to take part but couldn’t gather enough team members.  The schools have secured the fourth of seven Regional Heat winners’ slots for the UK Finals.

Louis Lyle, event judge, asked that all participating schools from the Derbyshire Regional Heat were commended.  The standard of presentations was exceptionally high and judging the competition a real challenge!

South London Regional Heat 2015

Congratulations to Trinity School, Croydon, who as Rockdonnell, won the South London Regional Heat this weekend.  They will be joining the Scarborough schools and Team Kronos at the UK Finals in March.  This is the fourth consecutive year Trinity School, Croydon have made it through to this stage of the competition, which is a fantastic achievement for the school.

Yorkshire Regional Heat 2015

Students from seven schools in the north of England met on Saturday to compete in one of our two events taking place over the weekend. The students formed five companies to take on the latest design challenge, hosted by the University of Huddersfield.  A busy day was followed by some excellent presentations.  Flechtel Constructors, a team of students from schools across Scarborough, won the event and will be joining the winning teams from our other Regional Heats at the UK Finals at Imperial in March 2016.  Congratulations to Scarborough College, Scarborough Sixth Form College and Scalby School; all of whom had students in the winning team!

2016 Competition

Ready, Steady, Design!

We’re gearing up at UKSDC Towers for a mammoth stint of competitions, the likes of which we have never attempted before.  This weekend sees us run two events simultaneously, in Huddersfield and London, with schools joining us from almost 100 miles away from our Yorkshire Regional Heat!

From this weekend onwards, we will be running a competition event every weekend until the end of the Autumn term.  We have had unprecedented interest in the UKSDC this year and have only one Regional Heat space remaining at our Central England event in December.  Micro-Competition spaces for students in Years 7-9 are also still available at this event.

If you missed out on a Regional Heat place this year, why not enter our video competition?  The deadline for entries is Friday 18 December at 23:59.  Full details can be found here.

Keep your eyes peeled for the announcements of schools through to the UK Finals.  All of the results will be posted on our blog following each Regional Heat.

We hope to announce our 2016-17 programme in April 2016.  Watch this space!
