Students from seven schools in the north of England met on Saturday to compete in one of our two events taking place over the weekend. The students formed five companies to take on the latest design challenge, hosted by the University of Huddersfield. A busy day was followed by some excellent presentations. Flechtel Constructors, a team of students from schools across Scarborough, won the event and will be joining the winning teams from our other Regional Heats at the UK Finals at Imperial in March 2016. Congratulations to Scarborough College, Scarborough Sixth Form College and Scalby School; all of whom had students in the winning team!
We’re gearing up at UKSDC Towers for a mammoth stint of competitions, the likes of which we have never attempted before. This weekend sees us run two events simultaneously, in Huddersfield and London, with schools joining us from almost 100 miles away from our Yorkshire Regional Heat!
From this weekend onwards, we will be running a competition event every weekend until the end of the Autumn term. We have had unprecedented interest in the UKSDC this year and have only one Regional Heat space remaining at our Central England event in December. Micro-Competition spaces for students in Years 7-9 are also still available at this event.
If you missed out on a Regional Heat place this year, why not enter our video competition? The deadline for entries is Friday 18 December at 23:59. Full details can be found here.
Keep your eyes peeled for the announcements of schools through to the UK Finals. All of the results will be posted on our blog following each Regional Heat.
We hope to announce our 2016-17 programme in April 2016. Watch this space!
