Dias
Background
Dias is a settlement designed to enable the next generation of human space exploration beyond the Asteroid Belt by focusing on the fields of Energy Production, Biological Research and Advanced Recreational Activities. This unique combination of functions not only provides new opportunities for scientific discovery and innovation, but also helps to support sustainable economic development in space.
Dias fulfills the following purposes:
1. It is able to provide other Foundation Society settlements with a a directable laser supply of energy harvested sustainably from the Sun.
2. It conducts research in the field of interdisciplinary science, combining research in solar physics, manufacturing, microbiology, and agriculture to advance human spaceflight
3. It develops exciting new leisure activities that utilise the space environment to allow for completely new activities that could not be conducted in the high gravity environment of Earth.
Services
- Directable Laser Power - Dias can provide a directed beam of power up to 250 MW to any settlement with an orbit of 4 AU or less of the sun. This requires a 1oo m diameter rectenna at the receiving settlement and comes at a flat cost of $10,000,000 per day of power supplied.
- Research into the effects of different planetary environments on Biology - For further information, please contact a Technical Adviser
- Advanced Recreational Activities - For further information, please contact a Technical Adviser
