Regional and Digital Heats

How does it work?

Teams will join forces as fictional companies and spend a day preparing a presentation that showcases their design to meet the event’s Request for Proposal! These events will nominally run from an arrival time of 08:30 through to a wrap-up time of 20:00, Any questions, get in touch with us by emailing registration@uksdc.org or via our socials.

For the 2025/26 competition year, we are holding our qualifying heats in person again! However, for those who do not live in close proximity to one of our regional heats, we will continue to hold 1 digital heat, subject to demand. Please fill in the Registration Form to sign up for your Regional or Digital Qualifier.

The Rules of Entry

  1. Teams may consist of between 4 and 10 students, all between Years 10 and 13 (in England/Wales, or equivalent elsewhere in the United Kingdom).
  2. Each team must have a designated supervising adult (over the age of 18). This can be a teacher (in the case that a team’s affiliated organisation is a school) or a chosen parent/guardian. This person will be included in all correspondence with the team for safeguarding.
  3. Registration of a team using the provided form indicates permission has been given by a parent/guardian for a team member to participate.
  4. Only one team may be associated with an institution in order to give as many people the opportunity to get involved as possible. In order to enter as an unaffiliated team, no more than half of your team members may attend the same educational institution (e.g. a team of 10 may have 4 members from school A, 4 from school B, and 2 from school C, but may not have 6 from school A). If you are oversubscribed and interested in registering a second team, please contact registration@uksdc.org direct. Should additional space become available, interested parties will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  5. Students are expected to act in a professional and respectful manner when interacting with the other competitors and UKSDC/Venue staff at all times. UKSDC supervisors will be monitoring at all times and reserve the right to remove individual competitors or entire teams deemed to be violating this rule.
